District consultants reported that Phase 1 of the Prop 5 program, which replaced unit ventilators at Meadow Hill, Temple Hill and the pre-K wing at Gidney Avenue, is substantially complete and expected to reach project closeout in November, subject to a week-or-two margin.
Presenters said unit ventilators are installed in every classroom at Meadow and Temple Hill and in the pre-K wing at Gidney. Most of the units are providing cooling, and condensers and air handlers have been connected and energized. Warren Sackman said some additional abatement was required where asbestos tile was found under existing floor finishes; that work generated change orders and associated costs.
Phase 2 electrical upgrades — new switchgear at Bonneville, Gardertown and Foster Town schools — are substantially complete and in punch-list status, the team said. The presentation noted an electrical issue at Temple Hill that had been reviewed previously in executive session and will be updated outside the public portion of the meeting.
The presenters identified several minor coordination change orders (tree removals, pad relocations, small pipe work) and listed potential credits that the district expects to pursue. No new authorizations were requested from the facilities committee during the update.
