The City of Newark finance committee voted 5-0 to appropriate $10,150 to the property maintenance division. City staff said the funds are court-ordered fines collected by the property maintenance division and are being added to the division’s accounts.

A committee member commented, “Nice to be getting some money back,” during the discussion. The committee forwarded the appropriation to the full council for final action.

The appropriation is operational and funded from fines collected; staff did not indicate use beyond incorporating the funds into property-maintenance accounts at the committee meeting.
