Board approves corner-lot carport variance at 604 Weybridge Court

The Seminole County Board of Adjustment on a voice vote approved a variance to reduce the north side-street setback from 20 feet to 10 feet at 604 Weybridge Court to allow a single-car aluminum carport. Staff presented the item as a request in the Greenwood Lakes PD plan development district on a corner lot with two front yards, noting six letters of support and no prior variances for the property. “The proposed attached carport addition will be 280 square feet and will encroach 10 feet into the required side street setback,” the staff presentation said. Applicant Bridal Dorian said the structure is “a roof and two posts. It's aluminum. It's tasteful,” and described neighborhood support and a driveway permit granted by Seminole County in July. He told the board the car is currently parked adjacent to the house and that homeowners association rules have filled the garage with allowed recreational equipment, leaving the vehicle outside. The board made a motion to approve, moved by Mr. Beagley and seconded by the vice chair; the chair called the question and the motion carried. The decision is subject to the county’s appeal procedure; the presiding chair reminded the public that a dissatisfied party has 15 days to appeal a Board of Adjustment decision to the Board of County Commissioners.
