The Urbana Police Department asked the committee to forward a resolution to the City Council accepting a $100,165.40 reimbursement award from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
Police staff said the one-time reimbursement covers purchases and training already made in fiscal year 2024 for officers’ body-worn cameras, in-car camera systems, storage infrastructure and related training. The department indicated the award was notified on Aug. 28 and the funds are fully reimbursable for eligible FY2024 expenditures.
Staff said the reimbursement will increase the city’s general fund balance when the grant revenue is recorded; staff plans to include the revenue in the next budget amendment. Council members thanked the chief and Lisa Curtis, an administrative assistant who pursued the grant application.
A motion was made by Council Member James and seconded by Council Member Grace to forward a resolution approving the grant agreement to the City Council consent agenda.
