Salerno family donates $2,500 to Carol Stream DARE program

CAROL STREAM, Ill. — George Salerno and Cindy of Rosedale Chapel presented a $2,500 check to support Carol Stream’s DARE program during Tuesday’s Village Board meeting. The donation was accepted as part of a public presentation before the board.
George Salerno told the board that his family’s funeral business has observed an increase in teen and youth drug addiction and overdoses and that the family began donating to DARE to help educate young people. “I'm honored to say that you're the only community that still has DARE program,” Salerno said, citing a decline in overdoses among families seen in their business.
Mayor Frank Severino and trustees thanked the Salerno family for longstanding support. Police officials noted DARE instructors and community relations staff receive the contributions and thanked the family for the donation.
