Finance committee forwards annual tax-levy certification to full council

Summit County’s Finance committee reviewed and forwarded the annual resolution certifying the amounts and rates as determined by the county budget commission for tax year 2025 (collection year 2026). Phil Montgomery of the Executive’s Department of Finance and Budget told council members the copy circulated contained a raw exhibit and that corrected exhibits have already been distributed to council staff. He said the certification includes inside millage allocations — 1.75 mills to the general fund and 0.45 mills to debt service — as well as voted levies such as DD, CSB, ADM and the zoo. Montgomery noted that the exhibit before council will reflect a corrected reduction factor for the DD levy to a rate of 3.59 mills. The certification is the standard annual action the council takes each September to approve levy certification before the October 1 deadline; the committee moved the resolution forward and it carried.
