Committee recommends Michael Hansen to Utah Geological Survey board for civil-engineering geology seat

Senators praised Hansen’s experience and noted the importance of geologic expertise for dam safety and infrastructure that crosses faults. Senator Hinkins lauded volunteer technical expertise and senators stressed the survey’s role in advising on fault mapping, flood plains and siting critical structures. After public comment and committee discussion, Senator Hinkins moved and the committee approved a favorable recommendation to the full Senate.
