Court approves $24,000 county match to support Meals on Wheels home-delivered meals grant

Victoria County Commissioners Court on Sept. 15 approved resolution 2025-078 to provide a $24,000 county match to Meals on Wheels South Texas’ Texas Department of Agriculture grant application for the home-delivered meals program. County staff said the match is required for the state grant and can substantially increase the total support returned by the state.
Dan, a representative of Meals on Wheels South Texas, told the court the organization provided approximately 60,000 meals during the previous year to about 461 residents in Victoria County; the program also operates congregate dining sites in Victoria and Yorktown and serves additional rural areas including parts of DeWitt and Goliad counties. Dan explained the program’s intake process and gave the phone number (361-576-2189) and website (mowstx.org) for referrals.
Staff told the court the match will allow the organization to apply to the Texas Department of Agriculture and that funds would begin in February. Commissioners voted to approve the resolution; the court recorded “Aye” and the motion carried.
