Jim Wells County commissioners on Sept. 12 voted to ratify a joint city-county request for $100,000 in fiscal-year 2026 RAMP (routine airport maintenance program) funds from the Texas Department of Transportation, Office of Aviation, and authorized the county judge and county attorney to sign grant documents.
Desiree Conchola, identified as the city of Alice grant administrator, said the annual grant supports routine maintenance and low-cost airport improvements. The required 10% match for the $100,000 award is split between the city and county; Conchola said each entity’s share would be $5,555.55 and that the county’s commitment of $11,111.11 (county plus city split) was included in the motion.
Commissioners approved the ratification and signed authorization to execute related documents so the city and county may proceed with the FY26 RAMP application and subsequent work if the grant is awarded.
Ending: The court authorized officials to sign grant documents and committed local match funds in advance of the grant award.
