Palm Beach County staff announced the start of public engagement for a countywide transportation master plan and encouraged residents and stakeholders to participate in a series of upcoming meetings and an online survey. The planning director described the project as a countywide framework involving all 39 municipalities and said the consultant will gather public input to inform next steps.
The planning director said the project will hold multiple meetings, including daytime and evening sessions intended to maximize public participation, and noted there are four additional meetings in the near term with one meeting in each area of the county. Staff advised attendees that a project website hosts meeting dates, materials and an online survey for those who cannot attend; staff corrected the project URL in the record as the official project site: www.pbcmoves.com. The director said the survey will remain open for 30 days after the final meeting and that a steering committee of municipal representatives and technical experts is guiding the consultant's work.
The planning director said the plan is intended as a nonbinding, countywide framework and does not commit jurisdictions to funding; funding decisions would be made later by elected officials and participating agencies. "This is the first of its kind for Palm Beach County because it involves all 39 municipalities," the planning director said, and they urged broad participation in meetings and the online survey so the consultant can analyze community input before drafting recommendations.
Staff said the planning process will include a publicly available analysis, review by a multi-jurisdictional committee and additional public comment opportunities before the board considers any final plan. The planning director also encouraged commissioners to attend and to share the website and survey with neighbors and constituents.
Next steps: staff will host the advertised public meetings, the consultant will analyze survey results, steering and multi-jurisdictional committees will review draft recommendations, and staff will publish opportunities for public review and comment ahead of any board consideration.
