During the Sept. 10 Cook County Planning Commission meeting, resident Paul Renneisen said he received notice for a public hearing on a proposed cell phone tower but had not been notified of an amended hearing date. “We received a notice that this is the hearing date... We never received another notice,” Renneisen said.
Planner Neva replied that the cell tower application has been postponed because the applicant is conducting a wetland delineation and may need to redesign the site. “The tower has been postponed because they’re doing a wetland delineation right now, and they may have to totally withdraw and redesign that location and resubmit a new application,” Neva said. She told the commission staff tried to contact persons for whom they had contact information and that some notices were mailed as hard copies; she said the office will send clear notices when a new hearing date is scheduled.
Neva said the delay began after new wetland information surfaced the prior week and that the application is a “moving target” while those technical facts are finalized. The resident thanked staff for the clarification and the item was not considered further at the meeting.
No motions or votes were taken on the tower at the Sept. 10 meeting.
