The Northville Police Department reported 612 total calls for service in August at the Mayor and Council meeting on Sept. 11. The department also listed 121 traffic stops, 89 selective enforcement details, 42 building/property checks, 39 burglar alarms and 20 motor-vehicle crashes; the presenter said the department made a DWI arrest (a 29-year-old male from Walden, N.Y.) and an arrest on a shoplifting charge (a 54-year-old male from Orangeburg).
The same report noted that officers completed their one-year probationary period and transitioned to full-time permanent status effective Aug. 9. The department announced a community outreach event, "Coffee with a Cop," scheduled for Oct. 1 at a local Starbucks.
The Northville Ambulance Corps reported call volumes for July and August. For July the corps recorded 25 total calls (19 to Northville and the rest to neighboring facilities); for August the corps reported 15 calls with 10 to Northville and the balance to nearby facilities. The ambulance report also congratulated three newly certified U.S. EMTs: Presley Sonia, Serena Lang and Gianna Verschio, and invited interested recruits and trainees to apply; the corps provided an email contact for volunteer inquiries.
Why it matters: police and emergency-medical activity statistics are a routine accountability item; the reports provide the public with local enforcement and emergency-service activity levels, staffing changes and community-outreach events.
No policy changes or budget requests were made during the Sept. 11 meeting on these items.
