The City Council on Wednesday approved a request from the Upper Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce to waive eligible city special event fees for a weekly Saturday market series running Sept. 20, 2025, through Sept. 19, 2026. Staff said the waiver totals $66,099 for the 12‑month period; the organization submitted the required $150 special event license fee, prior year financial report, current budget and tax return in lieu of a balance sheet. As part of the agreement, the chamber will recognize the city as a sponsor and may use the city logo to acknowledge that sponsorship. Staff recommended approval and noted all other external costs remain the organizer’s responsibility. Council approved the waiver by voice vote; council members and staff praised the market’s vendor participation and urged residents to attend.
