CCAC reports growth in visitors and bookings; board hears plans for expanded tournaments

The CCAC reported averaging about 4,700 visits per weekend during summer events and said roughly 10% of facility users were from Kosciusko County; the remainder came from outside the county. The director said the indoor facility is rented nearly every weekend and continues to be a major revenue source. The CCAC also reported year‑over‑year growth in youth programs (girls fast‑pitch up by about 60 participants, outdoor soccer about 148 participants) and in adult leagues (about 23 teams for slow‑pitch, up by roughly 10 teams from the prior year).
CCAC staff said partnership with analytics supplied by the CVB has helped them target sponsor outreach and tailor strategic planning. The CCAC also announced it will host a large Toys for Tots softball event (previously in South Bend) and expects about 48 teams; the tournament has previously raised large sums for charity. Staff outlined plans to pursue additional adult and youth national tournaments next year that would boost out‑of‑town attendance and hotel stays.
Commissioners praised the CCAC’s growth and encouraged promotion of the county’s role in supporting a self‑standing non‑profit sports complex that draws substantial overnight stays and visitor spending.
