Committee approves FSI drawings module to centralize building drawings and safety assets

The King County Administration Committee on Sept. 10 approved a request to add a drawings and project-management module to the county's existing FSI computerized maintenance management system. Kevin Harris, presenting for building management, said the module centralizes drawings and will include safety locations such as fire extinguishers, water shutoffs and alarms to help staff respond faster. "This centralizes those drawings and also helps us with safety. These drawings will have all of our building spaces, but more importantly, these drawings will have the locations for fire extinguishers, water shutoff valves, fire alarms, mechanical system safety issues," Harris said. He told the committee the vendor will install about 125 of the most critical drawings and the county team will complete the rest. Harris said the incremental annual subscription cost is about $8,000 on top of an existing $18,421 spend for the current module, plus one-time setup and installation fees. The agenda item reference was TMP-20-25-1108; a line in the packet listed $35,006.06 for a multiyear total. Committee member Gums asked for AEDs to be included in the drawings; "I believe AEDs should be in there as well," she said. Committee members approved the resolution by unanimous consent on a roll call. The module is expected to improve project planning and emergency response by consolidating drawings and safety device locations into one searchable system. Staff will manage the installation of additional drawings after the vendor installs the critical set.
