District begins multi‑year capital planning, schedules facility tours ahead of November discussion

District administrators told the school board Tuesday they have begun a formal process to develop a three‑to‑four‑year capital expenditures (CapEx) list covering repairs and equipment for the district’s seven buildings. The administration said it visited all buildings, spoke with principals and support staff, and is compiling a pricing estimate with the district’s architect. Staff noted several buildings date from the 1970s through the early 1990s and will require increasing repairs as systems age. “As some of our buildings being built in the seventies, in 1980, even in the early 90s now, those are buildings that some of the repairs are, just becoming more frequent, and some of the repairs are rather large,” a staff member told the board. Board members and staff discussed touring facilities before a detailed financing decision; administrators recommended tours of the three elementary campuses by November and a potential special meeting in December to review a prioritized list and financing options. Staff said the district has internal capital reserves but has not yet priced projects and has meetings scheduled with the architect to estimate costs. No financing decision or bond measure was made at the meeting; the district will present cost estimates and proposed priorities once pricing work is complete.
