Spokane County Fair & Expo wins top prize from IAFE; organizers cite 12,000 exhibits

Spokane County officials said the Spokane County Fair & Expo received a high award from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) and described a year-round team effort to prepare the event. “We are a part of IAFE, the International Association of Fairs and Expositions. There's so many categories, but we finally took home the big prize. I'm gonna call silver, you know, creme de la creme of, entries,” said Speaker 9, the fair presenter.
Speaker 9 said the fair features more than 12,000 exhibited items — quilts, photography, livestock, and produce among them — and described the preparation pressure leading up to the 10-day fair. “We have well over 12,000 items exhibited at the fair. That could be quilts, photography, livestock, your treasured pumpkin or tomatoes,” the speaker said.
The remarks celebrated the fair’s accomplishment and community-building role; no county action or funding proposal accompanied the presentation.
