Susie Fox, procurement specialist senior for Lake Havasu City, said local vendors can find and register for bidding opportunities on the city website (lhcaz.gov) and on DemandStar, and that the city also broadcasts small-project requests to the Chamber of Commerce. "You can find all of our invitation to bids, request for proposals, request for qual qualifications on the city's website at lhcaz.gov," Fox said in a city video segment.
Fox said the procurement office handles a wide range of purchases for the city and works closely with internal departments to define needs and timelines. "We procure, consultant services down to pipes, valves, and fittings for the water department. We're currently working on a vehicle main replacement project," she said. She added the office uses multiple procurement methods, including cooperative purchase agreements, solicitations, invitations to bid and requests for quotes.
Fox described procurement as complex and emphasized collaboration with other city offices. "We work very closely with the legal department to ensure departments to determine their needs, constraints, timelines," she said. She also described coordination with finance on budget details and said part of her role is training and mentoring department staff on procurement requirements and process improvements.
The segment noted the office follows state regulations and the city's procurement code when buying goods and services. Fox encouraged local suppliers to register for notifications so they receive invitations to bid and said the city sends smaller request-for-quote postings to the Chamber of Commerce to promote local participation. "We would love to have your business," she said.
This was an informational outreach segment; no formal actions, votes or policy changes were discussed or taken during the recording.
