Parks staff report increased youth-sports interest; potential private partnership inquiry noted

Oak Grove parks staff told the board Sept. 9 that they are receiving more requests from youth leagues for field use and that a community member provided a contact for a possible private partner to support youth sports. "We are getting additional leagues requesting use of fields," the Park Director said. Staff said they are able to accommodate requests now and are not actively seeking new fields, but the department will vet any formal partnership proposals if submitted. A board member said she had received contact information from a local gentleman who suggested partnering to provide space or support for youth sports; the Park Director said the department had not received a formal proposal and invited the contact to reach out to staff to discuss details. Board members also noted that youth sports activity appears to be increasing at some parks, while other sites such as Caraway Lake continue to see lower foot traffic. No formal agreements or commitments were made; staff said they would follow up only if a formal request or proposal is submitted for departmental review.
