Webb Park trail extension receives single bid within estimate; staff report remaining project balance

Park staff reported on Sept. 9 that a reopened bid for grading work at Webb Park produced one bid that falls within the department’s estimated cost, leaving a projected balance in the project fund if the figures hold. "We re opened a bid today. We did get 1 bid for the grade work at Webb Park to do the next little section of trail. It was within the estimated cost," the Park Director told the board. Staff said the asphalt contractor has carried over its proposal rate for the trail extension, which helps preserve the remaining balance from the project's original allocation. The Park Director described the overall Webb Park effort as a collaborative project that has accomplished substantial work within the roughly $100,000 project envelope. "So, this has been a pretty impressive project with everybody working together as far as numbers and how much we've gotten done with that 100,000," the Park Director said. Staff said the extended trail and improved access to tee ball fields should be in place by next year if work proceeds as estimated. The board was told the project still requires Board of Aldermen approval for contract awards. Staff also noted they will follow up on seeding and backfill once the new grading work is complete.
