Glynn County receives five bids for Old Jessup Road improvement project

Maria Thompson, procurement analyst for the Glynn County Board of Commissioners, read five sealed bids during a public bid opening for IFB 26-002, the Old Jessup Road Improvement Project. “This is the bid opening for IFB 26-002 Old Jessup Road Improvement Project,” Thompson said.
The bids Thompson read ranged from $1,661,599.00 to $2,512,654.55. The five responses, as announced, were: - Curb and Gutter Professionals (Jessup, Ga.) — $1,661,599.00 - Reeves Construction Company (Savannah, Ga.) — $1,729,043.04 - Georgia Asphalt Producers Inc. (Baxwood, Ga.) — $1,857,174.43 - JW Oliver Construction Inc. (Chesapeake, Ga.) — $2,473,935.00 - Scruggs Scruggs Company (Wagoff, Ga.) — $2,512,654.55
Thompson reminded attendees that the county “preserves the right to waive technicalities and make an award in the best interest of Glynn County,” and that the lowest bid may not be the recommended awardee after review. She said project staff and the procurement analyst would verify paperwork for accuracy and completion and that a bid tabulation would be posted to the county website when available.
Thompson outlined the next steps in the procurement process: procurement staff and the project manager will complete a review, the recommended award will be presented to the county finance committee, and the finance committee’s recommendation will go to the full Board of Commissioners at its next scheduled meeting. Thompson provided a county contact for questions and said bidders and the public can sign up for bid alerts on the county website.
No formal award, motion, or vote occurred at the bid opening; the event was an administrative readout of submissions and announcements of the review process.
The bid opening took place on the county’s public livestream and, as Thompson noted, in-person attendees were invited to sign an attendance sheet available on request. The transcript of the bid opening showed minor verbal corrections during the readout (for example, one bidder’s amount was restated), and the county will publish an official tabulation on its website for the definitive record.
