Council adopts Holmes-Lee site-specific rezone after hearing examiner recommendation

The Moses Lake City Council voted unanimously to adopt Ordinance 3077, a site-specific rezoning request for properties in the Holmes-Lee area that the hearing examiner had recommended for approval. City planner Vivian Ramsey presented the request, which adjusts zoning on specific parcels to align with the comprehensive plan’s Gateway Commercial land-use designation and mixed-use support. The proposal converts portions of property from General Commercial (C-2) and Light Industrial to R-3 (multifamily) and from other parcels to C-2 where appropriate, consistent with the comprehensive plan. The hearing examiner held a public hearing on the proposal and issued a recommendation to approve; staff advised the council of that recommendation during the meeting. Dan Levitt, who lives at 1224 South Pioneer Way, spoke during the public comment portion and encouraged the council to follow the hearing examiner’s recommendation. Council members moved and seconded adoption of Ordinance 3077; there was no recorded opposition and the ordinance passed unanimously. The ordinance effectuates the zone changes described in the staff packet and the hearing-examiner report and will be entered into the city’s zoning records as adopted.
