Council raises business-license revenue threshold to $4,000 to match state change

The Sammamish City Council on Sept. 2 unanimously approved an ordinance amending the city business‑license revenue threshold from $2,000 to $4,000 to conform with a change in state policy and to allow continued participation in the Washington State Business License Service.
Rachel Bianchi, the deputy city manager, told council that the state increased the threshold to $4,000 and that the city must update its code to remain in the state's Business License Service. She said the change would affect roughly 300–350 businesses that would no longer be required to obtain a city business license under the higher threshold.
Council members moved and seconded the ordinance and the council voted to adopt it; staff noted the change is administrative and intended to reduce duplicative compliance burden for small businesses.
No further action was required at the meeting.
