Scottsburg approves ZipTility contract to map stormwater and wastewater systems

The Scottsburg Board of Public Works and Safety on Sept. 10 approved a contract with ZipTility to create a geographic information system (GIS) map of the city’s stormwater and wastewater infrastructure, board members said.
Meredith Woods, who the meeting record identifies as the staff member responsible for stormwater, told the board the service will map pipe locations, sizes, elevations and work-order information so staff and contractors can find and assess assets. “We’re creating a map,” Woods said. She added the tool will be useful to construction crews and “city officials and other utilities as well.”
Board members confirmed the contract’s cost will be split between the stormwater and wastewater budgets. After questions from Mayor Amick and others, Tom Lewis moved to approve the contract; Karen Grisham seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously in favor.
The contract is intended to replace the city’s lack of a formal GIS map for these utilities and to provide a shared, searchable record of pipe locations and characteristics for future maintenance and planning.
