The Scottsburg Board of Public Works and Safety on Sept. 10 unanimously approved a waiver allowing Ivy Tech to use a sign at the Mid America Science Park for an adult class scheduled Sept. 22.
The waiver was presented by Willie Kellogg, who said Ivy Tech “cannot use the sign that the school is on during school” because the event is for adults and will take place outside student hours. Kellogg said the waiver request was submitted on the day of the board’s previous meeting rather than earlier in the timeline the board expected.
The timing prompted a brief discussion about the waiver form. A board member suggested adding a “date received” field to the form so the office can track when applications arrive. Following the discussion, Tom Lewis moved to approve the waiver; Aaron Grisham seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously in favor.
Board members did not record any conditions on the waiver in the meeting record and no public opposition was recorded during the discussion. The item was handled during the new-business portion of the Sept. 10 meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety.
