County, Peavers to station daytime EMS unit at Prospect for 90-day trial to test response times

The county said the unit will staff the Prospect station approximately 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., offering about 10.5 hours of daytime coverage to test whether response times in Prospect and Darlington Heights improve without harming service elsewhere in the county.
County staff said the trial aimed to reduce response-time delays when dispatch receives multiple calls and to provide better daytime coverage for the Prospect area and adjacent districts, including portions of the town of Farmville when multiple calls occur. The county planned a photo opportunity for the unit's first day and reported coordination with the Prospect Fire Department to accommodate EMS personnel in the station (reclining chairs, a smart TV, and basic amenities were mentioned).
The trial is described as temporary and intended to gather data; the county asked staff to monitor response-time effects during the 90 days and report back to the board. No formal budget vote was recorded for staffing; the arrangement was presented as an operational trial in coordination with Peavers and the prospect fire department.
