Board adopts FY2026 budget amendments; staff highlight pending federal funding requests

The Utah Lake Authority board on Aug. 6 approved amendments to its fiscal-year 2026 budget after a public hearing and staff presentation of proposed changes to the general fund, capital projects fund and long-range capital plan. Finance staff described modest revenue adjustments—including slightly higher projected interest earnings, added grant revenues and contract receipts—and corresponding reallocations to operating and capital accounts. Heather (finance staff) told the board the authority will likely do more frequent (quarterly) amendments as final grant awards and any federal appropriations are resolved. Director Luke Peterson briefed the board on pending congressional appropriation requests submitted by the local delegation. He said the delegation requested roughly $1.2 million for a carp-removal challenge, $4 million toward a nature center (requested by a partner entity), and other recreation-enhancement sums; he emphasized that those amounts will only be available if Congress passes a final federal budget with the line items included. After the public hearing, the board moved, seconded and approved the amended budget by voice vote. Members noted the authority’s $1.5 million state appropriation has leveraged several dollars of additional funding; staff said they will return with quarterly amendments if and when federal appropriations are enacted.
