At the Sept. 11 meeting the board approved multiple labor‑related memoranda of understanding and a new mentor teacher job description and stipend.
MOU with CSEA: The board approved an MOU with the California School Employees Association to add approximately 45 minutes to the workday for certain paraeducators to support congregate Wednesday meal service; pay and benefits will be adjusted to reflect the increased time.
School nurse salary MOU (BRSFA): Trustees approved an MOU with the Belmont Redwood Shores Faculty Association to move the school nurse position to the existing school psychologist salary schedule. The change raises daily hours from 6.5 to 7.5 and increases required work days from 185 to 200 in recognition of added administrative duties and time updating student care plans.
Mentor teacher position and stipend (BRSFA): The board also approved a mentor teacher job description and stipend to establish site‑based mentor roles for experienced teachers who support colleagues new to the district. The stipend covers up to 40 hours per year of work outside the regular school day, with the possibility of additional hours by timesheet at an approved rate.
Why it matters: Trustees framed the agreements as efforts to staff necessary student services and provide structured support for new or newly‑employed teachers. All three measures were approved by voice vote with no nays recorded.
Ending: Superintendent Deguara and staff said implementation details will be handled by district HR and payroll to reflect new hours and salary placements.
