The administration explained the hiring process: human resources and a five-member screening committee (including a nurse and department head) narrowed candidates to a finalist recommended by Principal Williams, who then forwarded the recommendation to the superintendent. The administration reported there were five or six applicants for the vacancy. A committee member asked that future hires for positions that fall under school-committee authority include committee representation in screening; the superintendent agreed to consult the committee before the next similar hiring process.
A motion to appoint Tammy Tisdale was made, seconded and passed by voice vote. The superintendent said the administration will consult with the committee on future school-nurse vacancies about what role members want in the screening and selection process.
