"It...it's a bit of a safety concern too because there's still, you know, blocks of concrete and holes...it's not fenced or anything," a commissioner said, asking staff to follow up.
On Buckalew (Bucklew) Park, members saw fencing and demolition activity and asked specifically whether mature trees within the construction footprint would be protected or removed. "Is there...a tree preservation element to the upgrade?" a commissioner asked, noting the pavilion area is frequently used for wedding and other photos and that mature trees there contribute to that use.
The commission directed members to contact city staff for updates. Denise and another commissioner said they will reach out to Erin and Aaron/Sal (city points of contact cited in the meeting) and to the mayor's office liaison (Brandon) to request project plans and maintenance schedules.
