Parks and recreation staff presented plans to resurface tennis courts at Kimray Park and Family Park with added multi-use pickleball striping and to install high-performance LED soccer-field lighting at Kimray and Linden Park. The projects are intended to improve safety, increase usable hours and expand recreational opportunities.
Adam Ussery, sports and recreation director, told the board that two bids were received for court resurfacing and that staff negotiated the scope to meet budget constraints; a contract award to ProTrac and Tennis Inc. in the amount of $109,040 was recommended. Ussery said he had no compiled usage statistics available during the agenda-review session but noted local groups have used Kimray courts on occasional Saturday mornings.
For soccer lighting, staff reported six proposals were reviewed and that Pill Green Electrical Service Inc submitted the lowest responsive bid; the recommended contract amount is $278,800. Installation will use 60-foot steel poles and staff estimated material and related lead times put likely completion around December, assuming procurement and scheduling proceed. Both items were presented for formal board action at the next regular meeting; no votes were taken during the agenda-review session.
