Superintendent highlights Rising Phoenix success, district’s college partnerships

Superintendent reported high completion and postsecondary continuation rates for the Rising Phoenix program, said 98 students are enrolled this year and noted the district supplies a sizable share of Rising Phoenix participants in northeast Wisconsin; he will keynote at an upcoming UW–Green Bay event to present program results.
The superintendent told the board the Rising Phoenix program has produced high success and completion rates. “20 out of 20, 21 out of 21, 24 out of 25, and 25 out of 25 are kids that have completed the program and continuing their post secondary education,” he said, and reported 98 students are enrolled in the program this school year.
He said the district accounts for roughly one‑eighth of all Rising Phoenix students in northeast Wisconsin and noted that completion rates and grade‑point averages for program participants are strong; many participants are first‑generation college students. He told the board he will present data about the program at the UW–Green Bay fall chancellor’s dinner on Sept. 22.
The superintendent framed the program as a district success and thanked the board for support; he said the program’s outcomes will be shared with the curriculum committee and the community as part of ongoing reporting. No board action was taken on the program during the meeting.
