The Peabody City Council on Sept. 11 approved several items reported out of the Finance Committee, including transfers to close out fiscal 2025, funds for parking‑meter software, updated weights‑and‑measures fees and a Community Preservation Commission (CPC) allocation for Old South Cemetery restoration.
Director of Finance (presented to the committee) requested the final fiscal‑year 2025 transfers totaling $366,375 to move money between departmental budget lines and close the year. The council approved that transfer by roll call vote. Separately, the council approved a $23,500 transfer from the parking‑meter reserve to a parking‑meter software‑services account to fund parking management technology.
The council also approved a new schedule of fees proposed by the sealer of weights and measures, Jim Collins, after the committee concluded the proposed rates were in line with neighboring communities. Finally, the council approved a CPC transfer of $19,000 for historic cemetery restoration at Old South Cemetery.
Councilor McGinn, chair of the Finance Committee, said the items passed the committee unanimously and recommended their adoption by the full council; the council approved each motion by roll call.
