City staff member Bill (presentation speaker) said the proposed four sunshades would use the same design and contractor as existing Riverwalk shades and estimated initial cost at about $211,000 for the four installations, noting the shade footings are permanent and require substantial installation work. He told the board the procurement would use an existing sourcewell contract that covers playground and shade installations.
The application will be submitted for inclusion in the city’s FY2025‑26 budget; staff told the CRA the funding would be available after the new fiscal year begins on October 1. The board approved the city’s request so it can be budgeted; staff clarified the CRA is deciding only to include the funding in the CRA budget and that placement and detailed site planning remain city responsibilities.
Action and vote: A board member moved to “approve the interdepartmental funding application from the city administration for Rossi Park improvements in an amount up to $250,000.” The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
