Sierra Vista MPO invites council to October Arizona Transportation Policy Summit

Sierra Vista Metropolitan Planning Organization director Karen Lamberton invited council members to attend a statewide transportation policy summit in October that will include speakers from ADOT, national transportation advocates and a NASA astronaut keynote.
Karen Lamberton, director of the Sierra Vista Metropolitan Planning Organization, used the Sept. 11 public‑comment period to invite the city council to the Arizona Transportation Policy Summit to be held in Sierra Vista in October. She said the summit is the first time the statewide event has been held in southeastern Arizona and described a program that will include the director and comptroller of the Arizona Department of Transportation, national transportation advocates and a keynote address by a NASA astronaut.
Lamberton said a welcome reception is scheduled Wednesday evening at Tombstone Brewery and that the summit has attracted several state legislators and municipal leaders. She urged council members to attend and said a letter from MPO board chair Carolyn Umfrey had been provided to the council.
The invitation is informational; no council action was required.
