The Woodhaven Brownstone Board of Education on Sept. 9 approved a $443,613.50 change order to repair structural and compliance issues at the Brownstone Middle School pool and awarded the work to Barazini Contracting.
The change order covers corrective work identified during bid pack No. 9, including replacing the deep-end slab, installing two drains, adding a new 8-inch concrete floor slab and removing and replacing plaster and tile finishes. The contract award listed in the meeting materials was $403,285, plus a 10 percent contingency of $40,328.50, for a total of $443,613.50.
The recommendation presented to the board identified two funding sources: savings from the Woodhaven High School parking-lot project, estimated at approximately $175,000, and the district sinking fund, which would provide the remaining roughly $270,000.
Motion by President Berry, supported by Sanders, approved the change order “as presented.” The board voted in favor and the motion carried.
No schedule for when the corrective work will start or complete was provided in the meeting record.
