At its advertised public meeting, the Planning and Zoning Board of the City of Lake City elected Miss Douglas as chair and Mister Lydic as vice chair.
Board members conducted nominations and roll‑call voting. Angelo (city staff) called the roll for the chair vote; the board recorded unanimous support for Miss Douglas. For the vice‑chair vote the election was contested: Mister Lydic prevailed on a recorded 2‑to‑1 count in the roll call held during the meeting.
Outgoing chair thanked members for their service in brief remarks. "It has been, truly an honor and a privilege to chair this board for, for the term that you had voted me in for," the outgoing chair said near adjournment, and urged continued support for the new chair.
Board members raised a procedural point during nominations: Angelo reminded members that the Planning and Zoning Board serves by designation as the Historic Preservation Agency, so electing officers for the Planning and Zoning Board also fills those roles for the Historic Preservation Agency. A staff clarification also noted that the Board of Adjustment is a separate entity with its own officer rules.
Why it matters: leadership changes determine who presides over hearings and coordinates with staff and the City Council, and they also affect the chair’s role when the Planning and Zoning Board sits as the Historic Preservation Agency.
