Nuisance abatement board reviews compliance updates for five properties; most remain in compliance

Fort Lauderdale’s Nuisance Abatement Board on Sept. 11 heard brief compliance updates for several properties and was told by the investigative detective that each site had taken steps toward or maintained compliance.
Detective Smith presented the cases in quick succession. For Star America (East Oakham Park Boulevard), the detective said there were three calls for service since the board's last meeting but no reports requiring police paperwork and recommended that the property record the compliance steps at the government center before the jurisdiction ends Sept. 25. “We've been very cooperative,” the detective said, and he urged the owner to keep the implemented changes in place.
The board also reviewed 800 NW 10th Terrace; the detective reported two months of activity and compliance and advised the owner to leave implemented controls (cones and similar measures) in place. Lucy's Meat Market at NW Sixth Street will return in October for another status review, the detective said, and the property remains in compliance.
For 821 NW Sixth Street (listed as 4 Corners), the detective described a few rain-driven loitering observations and requested clearer camera surveillance and routine reports; he asked the property representative to watch a particular corner and to call police when occupants appear on camera. Shop And Save at West Sunrise Boulevard logged five calls for service and was credited for forwarding trespassing complaints as requested; the detective stressed the importance of weekly status emails to avoid being placed out of compliance for failing to submit required reports.
Trevor, identified during the hearing as a property representative for one site, thanked the board and said he would continue to comply and to submit the requested weekly photographs and updates when asked. The board scheduled the next status hearings for early October and warned that failure to send weekly updates could place a property out of compliance and subject it to enforcement.
