The administration requested an executive session at the next regularly scheduled city council meeting to discuss personnel issues related to the contract and pledged to provide additional updates after the local holds its vote. Administration staff described this as the final contract pending signature; other collective‑bargaining agreements that council previously approved have been signed by both parties, staff said.
No formal council action was taken at the Sept. 11 meeting on the IAFF contract. Council retained the ordinance at third reading and will consider next steps after the union completes its internal procedures and notifies the city of the outcome.
