Tallmadge City Council adopted Ordinance 2025‑69 with an amendment on Sept. 11 to update its Rules of Council. The changes clarify who fills the temporary clerk role when the clerk is absent (important because the deputy/assistant clerk position is not currently filled) and revise rules about council correspondence (rules 7 and 22 were amended, per the law director).
Council discussed the specific amendment to provide a clear temporary clerk designation and confirm the correspondence process. A motion to adopt the amendment passed, and the ordinance, as amended, passed on a 6‑0 roll‑call vote. The clerk called the roll: Jessica Epstein, Donald Pavlick, Tracy Fletcher, Ted Roy, Nick Rubino and Jonathan Bolas all voted yes.
The law director and council members thanked staff who helped draft the language. The council noted the amendment was intended to avoid ambiguity when the clerk is absent and to standardize how correspondence is routed and handled under the rules.
The adopted changes will take effect immediately per the ordinance language providing for immediate enactment.
