Patty told the committee she recommends deleting many of the old policies because statutes cited are repealed or policies are redundant with modern policies or HR practices. Members noted that some content (for example, quality steering committees, site improvement teams and labor-management roles) appears in bargaining-unit contracts; Board Member Mike Cassell suggested staff consult bargaining units and MSBA about whether any language needs to be preserved in policy rather than contract.
The committee agreed to hold one item — Regulation 2055R (Quality of Work Life regulation) — off the deletion list for further review to determine whether its detailed references to district committees should be preserved in policy or remain in contract/regulation documents. Staff suggested converting the regulation into a 100-series policy or attaching an updated regulation to an existing 100-series policy if the board decides it should be retained.
Ending: The committee will forward recommended deletions to the full board, except Regulation 2055R which staff will research further and return with options about preserving committee descriptions and labor-management language.
