Council adds board-appointments line item to meeting order of business

Presque Valley — The Town Council adopted an ordinance amending the council meeting order of business to add a specific line item for appointments and reappointments to boards, commissions and committees.
Staff member Fernandez told the council the change is procedural: after staff performs screening, interviewing and recommendations under the town's recently established candidate procedures, a staff report containing applications and recommendations will be brought to the council as a distinct agenda item so council can review and take action during the meeting.
Council members asked whether applications would be circulated in advance; Fernandez replied that the applications will be included in the staff report. The council read Ordinance No. 2025961 by title and placed it on final passage; the ordinance was adopted and will take effect 30 days after passage and approval according to the ordinance language.
The change is intended to make appointment processing more transparent and efficient by moving appointments out of the consent agenda and into a discrete place on the meeting agenda for discussion and action.
