County approves FiberCare contract for juvenile-detention capital improvements; grant covers 60%

Greene County commissioners on Sept. 11 authorized the county to enter a contract with FiberCare to complete capital improvements at the county’s juvenile detention facility after staff reported the county had secured a grant covering 60% of the work.
County staff said the juvenile-detention capital projects had been submitted in prior years and that grant opportunities became available. “They applied for several. They received this one. This pays 60% of the cost of the renovations. So we'll pick up the other 40% of our capital improvement fund,” the staff member said.
Commissioners moved to approve the FiberCare agreement and to authorize the county administrator to sign the contract; Commissioner Gould voted aye and Commissioner Mays voted aye, and the motion passed.
Staff did not provide the total project cost at the meeting. The county recorded that it would use the capital improvement fund to cover the remaining county share; commissioners did not vote to increase that fund during the meeting.
