Board approves CTE director job description; program to expand to middle schools

At the Sept. 11 meeting, HR Director Danette Derickson presented an updated job description for the district Career and Technical Education (CTE) director. Derickson said the change formalizes an expansion of CTE program work to include middle school students so the director can coordinate feeder programming between middle and high school.
Derickson told the board one of the substantive changes is the reporting line: the CTE director will report to the director of curriculum because the program scope now includes middle school curriculum alignment as well as high school offerings. She also said Scott Fitterer will remain in the role.
The board approved the updated job description. Motion: move to approve the updated CTE director job description as presented; moved by Miss Maison, second by Mr. Sprague. All in favor; motion carried.
Ending: Board members expressed enthusiasm that middle school CTE expansion could increase engagement and better connect students to real-world learning before high school.
