The Lapeer County Board of Commissioners approved the fiscal 2025 budget at its Sept. 11 meeting. Chairman Howell called for a roll call vote; commissioners answered in the affirmative during the clerk's roll call. Commissioner Hagedon, Commissioner Kemp, Commissioner Knisely, Commissioner Wise, Commissioner Zender and Chairman Howell all recorded "Yes," and the budget motion carried. After adopting the budget, Commissioner (mover) asked administration to provide written budget status snapshots during the fiscal year on a recurring schedule (every four months was discussed). The board approved a motion to request administration and finance provide those periodic written reports to give commissioners a near real‑time view of where county spending stands relative to the adopted budget. The motion passed with support from multiple commissioners. The clerk's roll call was the only item with a recorded per‑member vote; other approvals during the meeting were conducted by voice vote.
