Council approves alcohol at chamber pickleball event and a block-party street closure

The Newnan City Council approved two visitor requests Sept. 9: permission for the Newnan Coweta Chamber to provide alcohol at a pickleball tournament and a street-closure permit for a Burn Boot Camp block-party event.

Council approved the Chamber’s request to provide alcohol at the pickleball tournament scheduled for Oct. 1 at The Hop. The approval was made by motion and voice vote with no recorded public objection. Later, the council approved Burn Boot Camp’s request to close a portion of Market Square Way for a block-party event on Sept. 13 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; the transcript recorded the motion, a second and an affirmative voice vote.

Both approvals were routine permit items on the visitors portion of the agenda; no special conditions, required mitigations, or fee waivers were recorded in the transcript. The council adjourned after completing the regular agenda items without calling an executive session.
