Staff presented several proposed sign and lighting changes in the draft code. Participants were told the draft would change the maximum allowed area for electronic (digital) sign faces; staff noted the current allowance of 33% would be revised in the draft to a 75% maximum for electronic area, and that the draft removes a masonry perimeter requirement that had surrounded some monument signs.
Committee members also discussed lighting limits. The draft adds a provision that pedestrian decorative lighting can be less than 2,700 Kelvin, while parking‑lot and other lighting was proposed with a target under 2,700 Kelvin in the initial text. One participant urged making color temperature a maximum rather than a minimum, saying, "We could just make it a maximum 4,000 Kelvin," and noting concerns about light pollution with higher Kelvin values. Staff said they would revise the wording to clarify the intent and coordinate with the sign chapter so sign lighting references the lighting provisions.
No votes were taken. Staff said they will refine the chapter language and the cross‑references before the open house and the planning commission packet.
