Scott Fuller, the consultant working on Barrington Public Schools’ strategic plan, gave the committee a high-level update on his firm’s five‑phase process and community engagement to date and said a draft strategic plan is available for committee review.
Fuller said the work included an online survey, multiple focus groups, one-on-one follow-ups and a representative workshop; his firm then converted the community feedback into a comprehensive vision document and began mapping year‑by‑year projects and deliverables. "Our process, just very quickly, is a 5 phase process," Fuller told the committee.
Committee members said they had not seen the current vision document and asked that the administration circulate drafts directly to the school committee. Fuller said versions had been shared previously with district leadership and a 20‑person workshop group and that the firm typically routes materials through district administration to avoid email-delivery issues.
The committee asked for a dedicated workshop to review the vision and the draft strategic plan, including reporting mechanisms and expected outcomes. Fuller recommended a deep dive in the committee's October meeting or a separate workshop; he and the administration offered one‑on‑one briefings for committee members before that session.
Fuller said the firm remains contracted to support the district during the first year of implementation with coaching and point‑of‑need support. The committee agreed to schedule a full review and to integrate the strategic plan into the calendar for committee discussion and eventual approval.
