Casper council appoints Larson and Grama to Board of Appeals for dangerous buildings

The Casper City Council on Sept. 9 approved appointments to the Board of Appeals for dangerous-building abatements, filling vacancies created when former council members left the council.

Councilors moved and seconded the consent appointment of Councilor Larson and Councilor Grama to the Board of Appeals concerning abatement of dangerous buildings. The motion passed; one councilor recorded an abstention during the consent vote. City staff said the board meets only as needed and historically has convened infrequently; the city has one pending matter that may require the board.

Councilors who volunteered said the time commitment is minimal unless the city receives multiple appeals or becomes more proactive in declarations; staff said the largest near-term responsibility is addressing the pending matter already on the horizon.

The council said formal appointments would be placed on the next special meeting for finalization; the newly appointed councilors will serve on the board until further notice or replacement by council action.
