The Roswell mayor and council approved a sidewalk cafe in the right of way at 4345 Park Square Court for Cafe Laban on Sept. 9, 2025, allowing two tables with seating for four people adjacent to the building entrance.
Jenny Peyton, planning and zoning director, told the committee the cafe sits on the north side of Park Square at the northwest corner of Park Square and Atlanta Street and that transportation staff vetted a reduced site plan. "It's just 2 tables," Peyton said, describing the proposal and noting the property line at the face of the building.
The council’s approval is conditional: the applicant must renew the sidewalk cafe license annually, pay application fees and have barriers and furniture approved by staff through the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), Peyton said. Those elements are separate from the right-of-way approval and must meet staff and HPC requirements.
Councilmember Sarah Beeson moved approval; Councilmember Julie Hills seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The decision applies only to the specific location and layout presented to staff and does not authorize other sidewalk or curb uses. Staff will process the annual license and the HPC review of barriers and furniture, as required.
